Who is responsible for your information?

Barristers4U is a trading name of INSURE24 LIMITED, registered in England and Wales under company number 07805025. The registered office is 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, England, W1W 5PF. INSURE24 LIMITED is the controller of personal information collected through this website and processes it under applicable UK data-protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Information we collect

We collect information you choose to provide in a quote or contact request. This can include your name, contact details, address, location, the area of law, your role in the matter, deadlines, hearing information, budget, preferred contact method and a summary of the legal issue.

Legal enquiries can contain sensitive information. Please provide only what is reasonably necessary for an initial suitability and quote review. Do not upload or send original documents unless a barrister or chambers asks for them through an agreed secure route.

We also receive limited technical information needed to operate and secure the website, such as request time, requested page, browser or device information, referral information and security logs. With your permission, Google Analytics also receives usage events described below. We do not send names, contact details, enquiry text or enquiry references to Google Analytics.

Why we use personal information

Depending on the activity, we rely on taking steps at your request before a service is arranged, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, or compliance with a legal obligation. Where information requires additional protection, including special-category or criminal-offence information, we process it only where an additional condition under data-protection law applies.

Submitting a quote request is not consent to receive marketing. We will seek a separate, specific choice before sending electronic marketing where consent is required.

Who we share information with

Where you agree, we may share the enquiry summary and relevant contact details with a potentially suitable barrister or chambers so they can assess availability, suitability, scope and fees. They become responsible for explaining how they use your information if they decide to handle the enquiry.

We may also use contracted providers for website hosting, email, security, administration and analytics. Providers may process information only for the agreed service and subject to appropriate contractual and security controls. We may disclose information where required by law, a court, a regulator or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

We do not sell personal information.

International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and proportionate safeguards. You can ask us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

How long we keep information

We retain information only for as long as needed to handle the enquiry, maintain appropriate service and audit records, resolve complaints, protect legal rights and meet legal obligations. The period depends on whether an enquiry proceeds, the nature of the record and any legal or operational requirement. Records are reviewed and deleted or anonymised when they are no longer required.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to its use, receive portable information, or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.

Cookies and analytics

Essential browser storage remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics. This preference is needed to respect your choice and does not measure your use of the service.

Google Analytics is optional. It is not loaded unless you select Accept analytics. If accepted, it helps us understand page use and privacy-safe events such as quote-form views, starts, validation errors, submissions and confirmed enquiries. Advertising storage remains disabled, and no enquiry content or personal contact information is intentionally sent to analytics.

You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from using the website or submitting an enquiry.

Google reCAPTCHA may be used on enquiry forms as a security measure to distinguish genuine submissions from automated abuse. Its use is limited to protecting the form and is subject to Google's applicable privacy terms.

Security and automated decisions

We use proportionate technical and organisational controls intended to protect personal information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive material through the initial form.

Barristers4U may use rules to prioritise or route an enquiry, but it does not make a solely automated decision that determines whether a barrister accepts your case. A barrister or chambers makes its own decision about suitability, availability, scope and fees.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when the service, suppliers or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the version presented with new enquiries.
