Family Law Arbitration

Family arbitration is again a new service offered under the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators (‘IFLA’) scheme. Under the new scheme, the parties can appoint an arbitrator to resolve their financial remedies dispute. The third party involved would be called an arbitrator who would act similarly as a judge in court. The arbitrator will consider the facts and all the relevant pieces of information. Arbitration may offer a structured route to a binding decision, known as an “award”, but timing, suitability and cost vary from case to case.
